E-textiles comprise electronics and conductive components to make use of the effects of electric currents. They can be applied in fashion, home, and technical textiles. Depending upon the desired functionality and application, e-textiles may be wearable electronics, smart textiles or both. E-textiles always have to be perceived as a system by consisting of several components with application-specific design and setup. In order to achieve a certain functionality, all components must be perfectly geared.
Schoeller sees itself as a system supplier with a strategic focus on e-textiles. With the involvement of an established network of qualified partners, we offer customer-specific, well-orchestrated products. Schoeller Textil AG and Eschler Textils GmbH are among the few textile companies focusing on the production of scalable e-textiles by the running meter.
The schoeller® E-soft-shell heating technology plays a central role in our efforts regarding e-textiles. The centerpiece of that technology is a heatable fabric lining with an integrated network of conductive yarns. As a part of a textile laminate it can be bonded to an arbitrary outer material usually in combination with our corkshellTM technology for additional thermal insulation. With the help of fine-tuned electronics, the result is a high-performance material setting new benchmarks with regard to heatable apparel.
The textile implementation of the HYDRO_BOT® technology from Osmotex is an important project within our e-textiles developments. Unlike passive membranes which do not adapt to human thermoregulation, the HYDRO_BOT® technology from Osmotex enables active, electronically-controllable water vapor transport.
